Steven Schrenk

Coming to the stone industry via studies in art and design at SCAD where I first fell in love with this material, I approach stone design with an artistic eye developed from years working in museums and galleries curating and installing exhibitions. I carve sculptures in marble and granite which continues to deepen my connection with natural stone. Cutting and fabricating slabs and blocks, working with architects and designers and managing complex installations are an extension of my hands-on skills in the industry and the studio. I enjoy expressing the beauty, and telling the story, of natural stone to convey its timeless message, ranging from the quarry to your finished design and everywhere in between.

Dream Beach House Uses Blue and Vetrazzo Surfaces In All The Right Places

Nestled in between the beach and the sound is a picturesque barrier island in North Carolina aptly named Figure Eight Island. This coastal southern paradise is an ocean lover’s dream and a creative inspiration, thanks to its vibrant blue waters that sparkle in the sun, nearly white sands and pops of lush green vegetation scattered around the island. In fact, the natural beauty of the colorful seascape was exactly what inspired the designer Lindsey Cheek of Gathered, a full-service interior design firm and shop in Wilmington, North Carolina, when she was called on to design one of the beachfront homes.

After spending their summers in Florida’s Ponte Vedra beach, a former Atlanta-based couple decided to set sail and relocate to this coastal town full-time. Built in the 1970s with a dated look and feel to match, it was clear to the couple that their newly purchased, 2,000 square foot condominium needed a total makeover. So, the homeowners called local designer, Amanda Webster of Amanda Webster Designs to help them achieve just the right kind of coastal aesthetic that would truly embody the feeling of an oceanfront getaway.
